Traffic police identify 450 sites where manhole covers are either above or below the road surface
HYDERABAD: GHMC Commissioner M.T. Krishna Babu on Wednesday said immediate road patch works would be taken up near all the manhole covers to keep them on par with the existing road level.

The traffic police had identified 450 such sites where the manhole covers were either above or below the road surface leading to mishaps at times fatal as it had happened on Tuesday at Mehdipatnam.
Long term solutions were being worked out to prevent inundations at 14 junctions like KCP, Model House, Maitrivanam, Alugadda Bavi, Villa Marie, Chief Minister’s Camp Office, Kalaniketan, Yosufguda, Ranigunj, Karbala Maidan- Gangabowli, and Lal Bungalow.

GHMC will take up restoration works of all roads within its limits in coordination with other civic departments. The issue of perennial overflowing sewer lines at Alugadda Bavi is to be tackled with the help of railway authorities by connecting it to the main line.

Tenders have been called for taking up traffic improvement works at a cost of Rs.25 crore in Hyderabad and Cyberabad police limits.

HYDERABAD: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) investigators on Wednesday conducted simultaneous searches on the properties of deputy tahsildar, Shamirpet, E B Naga Raj and unearthed Rs one crore worth assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The ACB sleuths conducted simultaneous searches on the properties of Naga Raj at Temple Alwal in Secunderabad and his relatives’ houses in Lalaguda, Alwal and Karmanghat.

June 22: An unsuspecting Kiran Reddy, niece of the Union minister, Mr S. Jaipal Reddy, was murdered by her drunken husband, Dr S. Chaitanya Reddy, in a fit of rage after an argument over his behaviour at a party. Dr Chaitanya was arrested by the Jubilee Hills police here on Wednesday on the basis of the post mortem report, his own confession and investigations, which, police said, established that he had smothered her to death on June 17.

Telangana supporters brought utensils and all sorts of provisions from their houses to cook food for themselves and also others to showcase their plight over the delay in formation of the State. It was community lunch amidst `Jai Telangana’ slogans thereafter at over 50 spots on roads. The menu comprised a range of dishes peculiar to Telangana like the `pachi pulusu’. But, it was mostly a simple meal of rice and cereals cooked hurriedly in the humdrum.There were also leaders haranguing to give sound bytes to media personnel over injustice to the region in the integrated State.

Hyderabad, Jun 15 : The CBI, probing the multi-crore accounting scam in Satyam Computers, has reduced the number of witnesses in the case to 220 as against 690 mentioned in the charge sheet, following directions from the Supreme Court to speed up the trial, a top official said.
Lakshmi Narayana, DIG, CBI said as per the apex court directives, the number of documents supporting the charge sheet, which were around 3,067, have also been reduced to a thousand-odd.
