Hyderabad: Vijayawada commissioner Amit Garg was promoted to the rank of inspector general of police along with his three batchmates on Saturday and posted as additional commissioner, City Police, crime and special investigation agency, a post that was lying vacant for over six months. N Madhusudan Reddy, joint commissioner of police, headquarters, was appointed as the Vijayawada city commissioner.

July 9: The AP Hotels Association joint secretary, Mr M.A. Rawoof, said traders and managements invested crores of rupees because the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation gave trade licences. “Now, there is no open space available in the city to provide parking. Even if there are some pieces of open lands, they are not for sale. Commercial establishments in the city that were set up up till March 31, 2007 should be exempted from the 40 per cent parking norm,” he said. Owners of restaurants said the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation allowed construction of additional floors in lieu of the land taken over for road widening.The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is finding itself in a web of mismanagement while implementing the rule of 40 per cent parking space in commercial establishments. The civic body had renewed trade licences without insisting on the parking space till now. However, with the High Court and the AP Lok Ayukta
