HYDERABAD: Condemning the hounding out of Baba Ramdev from New Delhi in the wee hours of Sunday, Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu demanded a public apology from UPA Government.
In a statement here on Sunday, he expressed anguish over the lathicharge and use of tear gas on his supporters and questioned the need for imposing section 144 of Cr.PC.

“This is the last phase of our talks. Congress MPs, ministers, MLAs and others are going to Delhi on June 9 and 10. We will meet top party leaders. If we don’t get a statement say by June 25, we will be constrained to opt for a direct action,

హైదరాబాద్: బీజేపీ సీనియర్ నాయకులు ఎన్ వెంకయ్యనాయుడుని పోలీసులు అరెస్ట్ చేశారు. బాబా రాందేవ్ అరెస్ట్‌కు నిరసనగా ట్యాంక్ బండ్ వద్దనున్న అంబెద్కర్ విగ్రహం ఎదుట వెంకయ్యనాయుడు ధర్నా చేపట్టారు. ధర్నా సందర్భంగా మాట్లాడుతూ.. ఉగ్రవాదులపై, హంతకులపై ఎలాంటి చర్యలు తీసుకోకుండా అవినీతిపై పోరాడుతున్న బాబా రాందేవ్‌ను అరెస్ట్ చేయడం దారుణం అని అన్నారు. అనుమతి లేకుండా దీక్ష చేపట్టిన వెంకయ్యనాయుడుతోసహా మరికొంతమంది నాయకుల్ని పోలీసులు అదుపులోకి తీసుకొని నాంపల్లి పోలీస్ స్టేషన్‌కు తరలించారు. ఈ కార్యక్రమానికి పలువురు నాయకులు, కార్యకర్తలు హాజరయ్యారు.

New Delhi, June 5 : Gandhian activist Anna Hazare Sunday called the police crackdown on yoga guru Baba Ramdev and his supporters “a throttling of democracy”.

“To protest is not a crime. It only strengthens democracy,” Hazare told reporters here, referring to Ramdev’s hunger strike against corruption and black money that began at the Ramlila ground here Saturday morning.
“But what was the need to send police at the dead of night and beat up people?” he asked, hours after hundreds of police personnel swooped on the protest site and forcibly removed Ramdev and his supporters.

“This is a blot on democracy,” he said.

HYDERABAD: After recovering from jaundice and paying off steep medical bills, Shahina Nafeeza Begum, a resident of Chadarghat area of the Old City, decided she had enough. Petitioning the consumer court against the Water Board for supplying contaminated water to several areas in the Old City for over four months in the summer, Shahina has demanded a compensation of Rs 5 lakh.Along with Shahina, 50 Old City residents, vexed with the Water Board, have filed a joint petition with the consumer court demanding compensation. The residents in their petition on June 1, demanded a hefty compensation of Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh each from the authorities. The board will have to pay up to Rs 2.30 crore if the ruling is in favour of the residents.
