Jan. 4: The BJP national president, Mr Nitin Gadkari, said the party will stall Budget Session of Parliament if the Centre tries to suppress the ongoing democratic Telangana movement using paramilitary forces. He criticised the UPA government and the home minister for sending paramilitary forces to Telangana when terrorists were sneaking into the country from Bangladesh and terrorists were openly carrying on their militant activities in Kashmir.

Mr Gadkari was addressing a public meeting, Telangana Poru, organised by the party, here in Adilabad on Tuesday. He demanded the the Centre to introduce a Bill on Telangana in Parliament. Mr Gadkari said he was confident of his party coming to power at the Centre in 2014 and announced that his party’s first policy decision would be to change the subject of water to the concurrent list from the existing state list so that the state and Central governments could share construction costs of irrigation projects equally.

He said this while referring to the backwardness of the district even though the river Godavari was flowing through the district and the negligence of the successive governments in taking up irrigation projects in the state. He called Mr Chidambaram a plastic man (plastic purush) for going back on his promise of initiating a process for a separate Telangana state while referring the first home minister of the country, Vallabbhai Patel as Iron Man (Loh Purush).
