Suri's aides shifted to Bangalore following YSR's warning and returned after his death in 2009

Fearing Suri would knew about their deals, Bhanu, Madhu kept his close friends at bay

HYDERABAD: Congress and Telugu Desam Party leaders reportedly used their association with slain G. Suryanarayana Reddy alias Maddalacheruvu Suri and his aides to settle disputes in and around city for the past few years.

A day after Suri was shot dead allegedly by his close aide Malisetty Bhanu Kiran, disturbing facts are emerging about the politician-police nexus in settling land disputes.

Highly placed sources said that the sons of at least two Ministers and husband of another Minister in the present regime had close liaison with Bhanu and Yellampally Madan Mohan Reddy alias Madhu, who was reportedly driving the car in which Suri was shot dead.

Modus operandi

While Suri was lodged in Anantapur jail, his two associates had a free run. “When disputed land deals were brought to their notice, Suri allegedly used to make threatening calls from the jail to settle disputes.

His aides would finalise the deal that used to run from a few lakhs to crores,” a reliable source remarked.

A TDP MLA, who is into big time real estate business is said to have used their services to settle disputes in Cyberabad Commissionerate limits and also neighbouring Ranga Reddy. He is accused of keeping in regular touch on phone with Suri, while the latter was in jail.

It is understood that four years ago, Suri and his associates had entered into a contract for Rs. 2 crore to eliminate a leading realtor from Kurnool settled in Hyderabad at the behest of another city based real estate developer in connection with dispute over six acres of prime land in Jubilee Hills.

YSR's warning

When a top police official was tipped off about the ‘impending contract killing', he is believed to have informed then Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, who ordered police to weed out such elements from the city. A stern warning was also issued to Suri, then lodged in Anantapur jail.

His aides shifted to Bangalore and resumed their activities only to return to the city after the death of YSR in 2009, a source revealed.

Reliable sources pointed out that Julakanti Srinivas Reddy alias Moddu Seenu, who was on the run and took shelter in Delhi after the killing of TDP MLA Paritala Ravi used to regularly get money from Bhanu and Madan Mohan Reddy through bank transfers.

The two aides were said to have kept at bay several close friends and relatives of Suri, fearing that their role in settling certain disputes without the knowledge of the latter would be exposed.

They reportedly tried to settle a dispute in Tirupati some time ago between two brothers, who had alleged grabbed an RTC conductor's land.
