BSNL offers additional talk value of Rs.100 for prepaid connection
Ten more cell towers to be commissioned
VIZIANAGARAM: “Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited is offering free of cost facility for customers of other mobile operators to switch to its network in the same licensed service area while retaining their existing mobile number. BSNL has exempted Rs. 19 for port-in charges and Rs. 20 for new SIM which other operators are collecting for mobile number portability,” said General Manager of Vizianagaram Telecom District K. Neelayya. Addressing a press conference on Friday, Mr. Neelayya said BSNL also offered under mobile number portability (MNP) additional talk value of Rs.100 in addition to the normal free talk value for prepaid connection and 50 per cent rebate in the fixed monthly charge of first month after port-in for post-paid connection. While welcoming customers of other services to switch to BSNL, Mr. Neelayya said interested customers must send SMS to 1900 after typing “Port space present 10-digit mobile number” from his/her own mobile.
The customer will receive eight-digit unique porting code (UPC). After receiving the number he/she must visit the nearest customer service centre of BSNL or authorised dealer within a fortnight to obtain two application forms (normal mobile application form and porting request form). BSNL will issue a new SIM card on submission of the two filled in application forms. On approval of the porting request, the new mobile service provider will inform the date and time for changing the SIM. The automatic migration process to BSNL network will be completed within a week. Interested customers can migrate to BSNL network only after working for at least 90 days with the present mobile operator, the General Manager said. Both GSM and CMDA mobile subscribers and 3G customers can change their service providers while retaining their numbers.
BSNL offers full talk value on all top up vouchers for Rs. 100 and above up to Jan. 27, Mr. Neelayya said. He said 160 towers would be commissioned by the end of March.
