TRS indicates willingness to attend meet on Telangana-Hyderabadnews.info
Hyderabad, Jan 18 : TRS today appeared to be open minded on attending the meeting of eight recognised political parties from Andhra Pradesh to be convened soon by the Centre to discuss the Telangana issue, saying it will take a decision after the agenda of the meet is made public. "We have not yet received the invitation from the Union Home Ministry. Once the invitation is extended, we will go through as to what the agenda would be, how the meeting would be conducted, whether they will continue with the theme of inviting two representatives from each political party or it's actually the final meeting," TRS MLA K T Rama Rao told reporters after a meeting of the party's state executive here. "We will wait to see the invitation. We will talk in our Politburo and take a decision," the son of party president K Chandrasekhar Rao said. TRS had stayed away from a meeting of the political parties convened by the ministry on January six to share the Srikrishna Committee report, alleging the Centre's policy of allowing two representatives from each party would encourage them to give divergent views on regional lines. TDP and BJP also stayed away from the meeting. The Centre is expected to convene the next meeting of political parties before January 26 to discuss the Srikrishna Committee report. The state executive meeting also decided to make the proposed relay hunger strikes for Telangana on January 21 a grand success and take up other agitational programmes involving students in a big way in the statehood agitation. "Eventually, the budget sessions of both Parliament and State Assembly are likely to begin in the third week of February. Our idea is that we would start off with the series of programmes and we should peak at the right time, stall both Houses of Parliament and Assembly here. Until the government comes forward with a concrete assurance, our programmes will continue," Rama Rao said. TRS floor leader in the Assembly E Rajender said a pro-Telangana students' convention would be organised on January 22 which would be attended by the party president Chandrasekhar Rao. The students would take up 'bus yatras' from January 29 in 14 Lok Sabha constituencies of Telangana, he said. Asked about the reports that Cabinet berths have been offered to Congress MPs from Telangana to pacify them on the statehood issue, he said the ruling party MPs have to decide whether they want to be on people's side or remain in a "restricted zone" by taking up ministerial responsibilities. Meanwhile, a brief scene was shot on Chandrasekhar Rao in the party office premises here for an upcoming film "Jai Bolo Telangana", which is about the ongoing separate statehood agitation. The party has decided to show the film to people in Telangana, Rajender said.
