Dec. 30: The first full fledged Cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, on Thursday saw all the ministers, including some known for their whimsical comments on senisitive issues and picking up quarrels on regional lines, remaining silent even on deployment of paramilitary forces and withdrawal of cases against the agitators.
“It was for the first time in the past one year that a Cabinet meeting was not a free-for-all forum thanks to all of us rising up to the occasion,” a senior minister said and hoped that the camaraderie would continue. According to sources, senior minister, Mr Dharmana Prasada Rao, hinted at imposition of President rule if things go out of hand. He stressed on the need to protect the rights of the common man and ensuring that normal life was not paralysed when the report was made public. “We ourselves will be giving a scope for others to take control of the administration if we fail to handle the situation,” the minister said.
The Chief Minister, however, assured the Cabinet that the situation would be under control. There is no need to panic as the administration is fully geared up to maintain law and order.
The CM asked his ministerial colleagues to go all out against anyone who criticises the government. He was reacting to the TRS chief predicting mid-term polls.
