The murder of TDP MLA Paritala Ravi in 2005 has returned to haunt Kadapa MP Jaganmohan Reddy, the son of Ravi's bete noire Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. A "leaked" internal CBI document has reportedly revealed the alleged nexus between Jagan and those accused of murdering Paritala Ravi, a feared Andhra faction leader.

Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, facing the heat from Jagan, has lost no time in latching on to the "opportunity". He reportedly went into a huddle with top police officers to explore the possibility of re-opening the CBI case in the light of the documents and the recent killing Maddelacheruvu Suri, the prime accused in Ravi's murder case. After the sitting TDP MLA's murder on January 24, 2005, the party leaders had accused then chief minister YSR in the state assembly of influencing the investigation to ensure that Jagan's name did not figure in the CBI chargesheet. The CBI had given a clean chit to Jagan.

The CBI document leaked to the media, apparently by anti-Jagan forces within the Congress, relates to the interrogation of Dantuluri Krishna alias Mangali Krishna in the Ravi murder case. According to "information" gathered by the CBI, Mangali Krishna was Jagan's neighbour and "front man" in his stronghold Pulivendula. This document prepared on April 17, 2005, by CBI's investigating officer V. T. Nandakumar apparently exposes the nexus between Jagan and Ravi's killers. It is alleged that Jagan sought Mangali Krishna's help to eliminate Parthasarathy Reddy, who had allegedly killed Jagan's grandfather YS Raja Reddy. Mangali Krishna, in turn, got in touch with Maddelacheruvu Suri, who was locked in a gang war with Paritala Ravi. Mangali Krishna and Suri struck a deal that first his rival Paritala Ravi would be killed and then Parthasarathy, whom Jagan allegedly wanted dead. The CBI document reportedly says Mangali Krishna had extended financial help to Suri to carry out with the killings allegedly with the blessings of Jagan.

Then superintendent of police Anjana Sinha in 2001 declared that the investigations had revealed the role of YS Jaganmohan Reddy in the plot to eliminate Parthasarathy Reddy through Suri. She also told the media then that the accused in the case had revealed that Jaganmohan Reddy had financially helped Suri through Mangali Krishna and, as part of a deal. Apparently the deal was that Jaganmohan Reddy would help Suri come out of jail if the latter eliminated Parthasarathi Reddy.
