Officials admit to load reliefs in limits of Ranga Reddy district

‘No scheduled or emergency power cuts in core city'

Outages in core city attributed to development works

HYDERABAD: Notwithstanding the promises about uninterrupted power supply during summer, many areas in the city have already begun to experience unscheduled power cuts.

A month ahead of the singe of summer, city residents are being forced to get accustomed to what is to come soon.

While quite a few areas of the city that fall within the purview of Ranga Reddy district are imposed frequent load reliefs, the situation is no better in the “core city” too. Blackouts here range between half-an-hour and an hour at various hours.

More frequent

“Power cuts have become more frequent these days. Though the duration is anywhere between 15 minutes to an hour, and not daily, the fact that they have started this early is cause for concern,” says L. Ravindra Reddy, a resident of Vanasthalipuram.

Residents from prime localities of the city such as Musheerabad, Padmarao Nagar and Begumpet too complain of power cuts. “Power goes off everyday at around 9.30 a.m. which is more frequent than before.

“Earlier, we had common lines with Ministers' Quarters and other VIPs in the locality. Later, officials separated the lines, and since then, we have been experiencing power cuts,” says D. Pandu, a resident of Kundanbagh. However, officials from the Central Discom say there are no scheduled or emergency power cuts in the core city.

Differentiating between what they term as “core city” and the part of the city which is in the limits of Ranga Reddy district, they admit that occasional load reliefs were being implemented in the latter.

A CPDCL official attributed the outages in the core city to development works such as aerial-bunched cabling presently on at some places.

No intimation

However, the company does not seem to think it important to intimate public about the same.
