NIZAMABAD: Civil Supplies Minister D. Sridhar Babu appealed to the pro-Telangana activists, here on Tuesday, not to link the demand for separate Telangana with the Rachabanda programme as the consultations were on, on the long pending democratic aspirations of the people at the Centre.
Talking to reporters, the Minister said: “We are also people of Telangana and desiring the formation of a separate State. It would come only through consultations which are going on at the behest of the Centre.” Replying to a query on their resignations as demanded by the Telangana protagonists, he said that would come only after seeing the outcome of deliberations on Telangana.
Mr. Sridhar Babu said in the Rachabanda programme that temporary ration coupons were being given to the poor who were missed out in the list of ration card holders. Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar said the Rachabanda could be used to pass resolutions in gram sabhas on the Telangana issue sending a strong message to the government on their aspirations for a separate State.
