Jan. 11: Telangana Congress leaders criticised party MLAs who were supporting the former Kadapa MP, Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, in his day-long fast in New Delhi stating, “When there is no disciplinary action against them, how can there be any in our case?”

The Rajya Sabha member, Dr K. Kesava Rao, said Telangana statehood could be achieved only now and the chance would never come again. Referring to criticism that Congress leaders were “match fixing” with the Telangana Rashtra Samiti on the issue, Dr Kesava Rao said that there was nothing wrong in match fixing since they were aimed at winning the match.

The Panchayati Raj minister, Mr K. Jana Reddy, said all Congress leaders of the region should go to the Congress president, Mrs Sonia Gandhi, and appraise her about the situation and get the separate state. The minister, Mr Jupally Krishna Rao, said that the leaders should formulate a two-month action plan for all Congress workers along the lines of “do or die”.

The Lok Sabha member, Mr Madhu Yashki Goud, said all elected representatives of Telangana should meet Mrs Gandhi with resignations so that the Telangana state could be achieved. In all, two ministers, nine MLAs, and 10 MPs attended the meeting.
