Jan. 14: The TRS chief, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, said that a midterm poll is imminent. “The Kiran government will collapse,” he said. Mr Rao accused the TD chief, N. Chandrababu Naidu, of being hand-in-glove with the Chief Minister, N. Kiran Kumar Reddy. “The TD is steadily losing base in Telangana. It will be out soon. In a bid to protect the party, TD leaders are attacking the TRS and launching a false campaign that the TRS will merge with the Congress. They are accusing me of being a Congress agent,” Mr Rao fumed.
He said that that the role of the Governor, E.S.L. Narasimhan, looks suspicious and its time he should change his style of functioning.
Mr Rao said though the SKC report was full of contradictions, yet it did not rule out Telangana. “Sometimes I have doubts if they had read our petitions or not. Some items in the report are third class. The Telangana agitation was the outcome of the sixth option of the committee. It has failed and only option five, carving out Telangana with Hyderabad as its capital,” he said.
Mr Rao said he did not see any activity pertaining to introduction of a Telangana Bill. “A Bill can be introduced only after it is passed in the Cabinet, approved by the President of India and a resolution moved in the Assembly. I don’t see any such steps,” he said.
